Mikey Duran is an independent pop-ballad and rock singer-songwriter from New Orleans, Louisiana — a city that doesn't produce artists so much as forge them.

His songwriting draws from a lineage spanning decades: the melodic architecture of Lennon & McCartney, the anthemic introspection of Chris Martin, the raw energy of Julian Casablancas, and the blues-drenched swagger of the Black Keys and the Lumineers.

The result is a sound that is at once familiar and impossible to place — distinctive, tremulous, and deeply felt.

Mikey made his national debut on American Idol Season XIV on FOX — performing an original song that stopped the room and earned him a place in Hollywood, finishing Top 120. He returned for the ABC revival, advancing again to Hollywood's Top 100. Two auditions, two networks, same result: judges leaning forward, listening.
